From Facebook Find to Anthro-Wannabe: Teapot Lamp Makeover

Looks like it’s time to dive down the rabbit hole and hand over that whimsical lamp! Better make sure it’s got the right amount of madness to it for the Mad Hatter’s wild tea party. How whimsical is this lamp, anyway?

You know that feeling when you see. something so charming on Facebook Marketplace that you have to drop everything and message the seller immediately? That was me when I stumbled on the sweetest little basket teapot set. It had everything—wicker charm, a curved spout, a sturdy handle, and a lid that practically begged to be repurposed.

I snagged it for $15 and immediately had a vision: what if this cute little teapot became… a lamp?

We had an old lamp base hanging around—nothing fancy, just waiting for a second life. So I took it apart and used what I could. The real magic started with the lamp socket. I drilled a hole right through the lid of the teapot basket, then used the original bolt and washer from the lamp to secure the socket to the wicker lid. It fit like a dream, and suddenly this teapot had a whole new purpose.

Now, I’m no electrician—and I definitely didn’t want to mess with wires or risk any electrical issues. So instead of rewiring the lamp, we popped in one of those genius rechargeable lightbulbs. No plug needed, no fire hazard, no code violations. The lamp is now completely stationary and charmingly safe.

The end result? A cozy, quirky little lamp that looks like it came straight out of an Athropologie cottage dream. It lights up with a soft glow, adds character to any corner, and best of all—it’s totally one-of-a-kind.

Sometimes, the best kind of decor is the one that tells a story. And this one started with a fifteen-dollar teapot.
