Transforming our newly renovated library felt like solving a design puzzle. It wasn’t quite fitting the style of the rest of our house. Our entry hallway—positioned between the stairs and our freshly painted library—had long been a source of indecision since we finished it in May of this year. 1. Preparation: We prepped the wall by smoothing, priming and cleaning it thoroughly and applying a coat of wallpaper primer. This ensured a smooth application and would make future removal easier if needed.
2. Measuring and Cutting: With the hallway’s dimensions in hand, we carefully measured and cut each strip of wallpaper. The bold design required precise alignment, so we took our time matching the pattern perfectly from strip to strip. We opted to display more of the sky to capture the eclectic beauty of the landscape.
3. Application: Using a high-quality wallpaper adhesive, we applied the first strip, smoothing it out with a wallpaper brush to eliminate air bubbles. Each subsequent strip required patience to align the design seamlessly.

The result? A striking mural effect that draws the eye and sets the tone for the rest of the house.

Finishing Touches

To complete the look, we added a few thoughtful details:

• A Sconce: We installed a brass sconce on the wallpapered wall, adding warmth and elegance. The soft light highlights the texture and depth of the wallpaper’s design, making the hallway glow in the evenings.
• A Bench: A simple, bench now anchors the space, offering both functionality and a warm cozy style. It’s a convenient spot for putting on shoes or dropping off bags when entering the home.
• Accent Pillows: We chose fun geometric pattern of the pillows for the bench, compliment the abstract and eclectic wallpaper–providing a cheerful pop of color that ties into the warm tones of the wallpaper and bench.
