One Room Challenge Week 4 Update: Arched MDF Shelves and Entryway Repairs

We’re diving into Week 4 of the One Room Challenge, and things are really starting to take shape! This week has been all about precision cutting, intricate design work, and laying the groundwork for some exciting upcoming projects.

Arched MDF Shelves:

One of the highlights of this week’s progress has been the construction of our arched MDF shelves. These shelves are not your ordinary straight-edged variety; they feature elegant arches that add a touch of sophistication to the room. Each arch is precisely cut and pointed at the end, creating a stunning visual effect that will elevate the entire space.

Working with MDF allows us to achieve crisp, clean lines while still maintaining structural integrity. The material is easy to cut, shape, and paint, making it ideal for our custom shelving project. The only downside is the amount of dust it creates. So be prepared for a lot of clean up. As we carefully measured and cut each piece, we couldn’t help but envision how these shelves will transform the room once they’re installed.

Entryway Repairs:

In addition to the shelving project, we’ve also started repairs on the entryway where we took down a wall in week one in preparation for the coffered ceiling installation in Week 5. This part of the project involves installing new drywall, smoothing out any imperfections, and ensuring that the transition between the entryway and the rest of the room is seamless virtually eliminating the previoulsy well-defined hallway.

While it may not be the most glamorous aspect of the renovation process (Staci and attest to this), these repairs are crucial for creating a polished and cohesive look. By addressing any structural issues now, we can lay the groundwork for the stunning design elements that will soon grace the ceiling.

Looking Ahead:

With Week 4 coming to a close, we’re feeling energized and excited for what’s to come. In Week 5, we’ll be tackling the coffered ceiling installation, a project that promises to be both challenging and rewarding. The intricate details of the coffered ceiling will add depth and architectural interest to the room, tying everything together in a truly dramatic fashion.

As we enter the final stretch of the One Room Challenge, we’re grateful for the opportunity to share our progress with you. From arched MDF shelves to entryway repairs, each step brings us closer to the vision we have for this space. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue this exhilarating journey towards the big reveal!
