The great Robin Williams once said, “Spring is nature’s way of saying ‘Let’s party,’” and I couldn’t agree more! My heart and soul is ready for the songs of spring and her glorious blooms. I guess Mother Nature has a sense of humor because we got seriously dumped on with snow this past weekend. Hoorah. Well, although I can’t control the weather, I certainly can control the warmth and sunshine within the walls of our home. Enter faux florals to the rescue! This idea has been looming around in the back of my mind for some time now and I think our recent snow pushed me over the edge to get ‘er done!
Let’s break down how this look was created!

- Alright, here, you can see our bare blank mantel (minus the lovely Anthro mirror which I had my eyes and heart set on for quite some time before snagging it during a Black Friday deal). I first got my floral mesh wire (smaller chicken wire) and formed it into a tube shape and played around with where I wanted it on the mantel.
- Once I figured out where I wanted it on the mantel and along the mirror side, I whipped out my trusty Command hooks! I used three altogether. One on the mirror and two on the actual mantel.
- Now that the Command hooks were in place and the wiring was secured, I took a super basic garland and used it as a base layer for the florals. I wanted a little bit of droopy greens hanging below the flowers to give it a whimsical (and an overall fuller) look.

4. With the base layer in place, I set to work on the flowers! This is the fun part! That dang chicken wire gave me some grief. I wanted to create a gradient of flowers so I started at the top with my darkest color. I left some space between each grouping to be filled in later with added greens or smaller flowers (if necessary).
5. I worked my way down the mesh wiring without any rhyme or reason other than color until I felt the proportions where were I wanted them and the overall shape was how I imagined.

6. Toward the end of the mesh, I decided I kind of wanted it to droop down a little more so I squished and squashed the wiring until it sat how I was wanting it to. I even used a little floral wire to tie it in place at one point! Always handy to have that stuff on hand!
7. I added a couple stems of green sprays to add a little bulk to the end. I didn’t originally plan on this but I really like how it kind of finished off the look!
8. Add a few candles, maybe a fun lamp and/or some artwork and you’ve got yourself a mantel that screams “happiness” “joy” “warmth” and, most of all, “SPRING”!
You can find ALL of the equipment HERE on our Amazon storefront (contains affiliate links). I got the flowers from Hobby Lobby but Amazon had some great options I rounded up for you. If you do a bit more digging into the specific colors you want, I’m sure you’ll find a huge variety (and bonus- it might be cheaper!). Happy decorating!
